Meet Elder Carl

Carl Jenkins grew up in New Brunswick, NJ where he realized his God-given gift of music at a very early age. Carl starting writing at 9 years old, and by the time he was 11, served as Choir Director for five choirs. Carl has served faithfully at numerous churches and organizations where he provided his music ministry teaching methods to various Christian denominations and well known recording artists. Currently, he serves as Minister of Music and Elder at True Servant Worship and Praise Church in Hamilton, NJ under the leadership of his brother, Bishop E. Earl Jenkins.

Carl’s “big break” came in 1986 when the Jenkins Brothers won 1st place at the McDonald’s Gospel Fest, and they landed their first record deal with Savoy Records. Their first album garnered the hits “He Set Me Free” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”. They formed the Jenkins Brother’s Music Development Center in Trenton which provided vocal and instrumental music instruction for singers and musicians at all levels.

Carl is featured on his most recent album release “Joyful Journey” and he is joined by X’Altation, a young, energetic, Spirit-filled group. He is also the founder of the City Wide Youth Choir in the Trenton, NJ area. This group is made up of young people between the ages of 12 and 20 who come together from various churches from all over the state and rendered an annual concert.

Carl Jenkins expanded his writing gifts when he wrote his first theatrical shorts “Prodigal Son” and “Jesus is Coming to Dinner” in late 1990’s. These pieces opened the door for his first full length play “And Peter Remembered”, in which he also played the principal role. This vibrant stage production told the story of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ through the memory of one of Jesus’ most devout disciples, Peter. This play was shown annually at True Servant Church and has evolved into the critically acclaimed “After the Cross”. This exciting dramatic piece captures Broadway and Hollywood in a wonderful display by mixing live stage performances and motion picture drama that is on the cutting edge.

Elder Carl has successfully maintained his place in the Music Ministry and business for over 20 years and is now blazing a trail in theater and in overall kingdom building with his production company, C-Line Entertainment. Elder Carl knows that without God none of these things would be possible and is always looking to glorify Him with the talents he has been entrusted. He is a loving husband and father and lives in Southern New Jersey with his beautiful wife Tina, and lovely daughters T’Cara and Trinity.
